Introduction to “Reflections by Pamela”

© 2010 Pamela Cather

Yep. That’s me and my miniature schnauzer Toby. This is my favorite Senior photo.  I barely remember the boring photo I was required to submit for the yearbook;  the one everyone else remembers me by if they ever browse through their copy of the yearbook.  But, this one is special.  I look at it and I remember Toby.  Toby was my 16th birthday present.  He went everywhere I went.  I remember going through the drive-thur at Wendy’s where I worked so everyone could  fuss over him.  It makes me think of my friends who would come over to my house and how excited he was to see them.  And just look at that permed hair (Mine not Toby’s-He had naturally curly hair!) with the semi-Farrah flip around the face.  It’s has the 70’s written all over it. Senior portraits can paint a picture of the things and places that are special to you.  They help you to remember who you were when.

But, how do you pick the right photographer for you?  The one who will capture you as you are today so that this time in your life will be remembered.  As a portrait photographer who specializes in High School Senior portraits, I’d like to help you think through the process of selecting a photographer.  I’ll be starting this blog off with a series simply called “Choosing a Photographer”.  Each post will touch on some aspect of a photographers job and how each photographer might deal with these issues.  And more importantly, how it affects you, the experience and the outcome.

This picture is so good. I’m going to look up some of my “informal” senior pictures and relish the memories!!
