Heartland Professor Starts Her Own Business

This is the headline of a great story on Reflections Etc printed in the Heartland Community College student newspaper, the Spectator. Sounds impressive doesn’t it? Ok, so the student writing this article, James “Jim” Conway, accidentally gave me a big promotion. Though my actual title is Adjunct Faculty, I do think it’s very common for students to think that “all” their instructors are “professors”.

Reflections Etc starts blog series on “Choosing a High School Senior Photographer”

“You’re just a Junior and you just started your winter semester! Why should you even be thinking about Senior Photos now?”
That’s how it all starts. “How what starts?”, you ask.
Well I’m glad you asked. It’s a blog series on how to go about “Choosing your Senior Portrait Photographer”. Many Juniors don’t even know they should start thinking about such things so early. And even if they do, they often don’t know how to go about choosing the one that’s right for them.
Senior portrait photographer Pamela Cather started blogging on this topic to help juniors make this important decision. Heartland student credits Heartland Community College for helping her start her Photography sole proprietorship

Is there life after Heartland? Will Heartland prepare me to get a job? Photographer Pamela Cather has started her own photography business, Reflections Etc, after taking classes at Heartland. The main classes that got her desire going were the digital photography classes she took there. The marketing class she took is helping her understand the intricacies of advertising her business. The web design and graphic arts classes allow her to save money by designing and maintaining her own website. The instructors at Heartland were encouraging and motivating. They gave her the courage to go out and follow her dream.
