Down on the Farm

Had a senior photo shoot on a Heyworth farm yesterday. Many great pics. Will post some soon. On my way home I saw a farmer harvesting soybeans. Thought it would be a good time to practice taking backlit images.

Ropp Jersey Cheese

I’m pleased to announce that my Scripture Note Cards are now available for purchase at Ropp Jersey Cheese. Haven’t been there before? You should check them out. They raise and milk their own Jersey cows. They have delicious cheeses of all types and favors, as well as, a variety of local products…including my note cards!

I’m also going to be creating a line of post cards for them very soon. I’ll post them here when they’re ready.

State Farm Classic 2011

My husband participated in the State Farm Classic Ladies Pro-Am again this year. His IBM team played with Hee Kyung Seo of South Korea. You can read more about her here…..www.lpga.com.

Senior Pics Now?

You’re just a Junior and your summer just started! Why should you even be thinking about Senior Photos now? You’ve got a whole year to graduation.

Early Bird Gets the Worm.

Photographers will often give special deals in the Spring to get Juniors off their duff and into their studios. Watch those flyers for those early bird specials. You might even be able to get your sitting fee waived and/or be able to earn credits for you pics. Check with studios early to see if they need “Reps” to represent their studio at your high school.

Busy as a Bee.

You will find that your Senior year is crammed packed with activities. Not only will you be taking classes and playing on the Lacrosse team. You will probably have a job, you’ll be driving you little sister around, and be filling out a zillion college applications that each require a two page essay; on totally different topics.

During the summer, though you may still be busy, your time is more flexible. Sure you still have to work on Friday night, but you could be up by 11 am for photo shoot if you really needed to. It good to get this checked off your list before your busy Senior year gets into full gear.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow.

The weather can be a huge factor in getting your photos taken. If you don’t mind having all your shots taken inside a studio, and there are some photographers with awesome studios, then the winter won’t be that big of deal. But, if you really wanted some outdoor pictures, it could get a little frustrating trying to find a time when Mother Nature is cooperating with your schedules. So getting a shoot date in the Summer will most likely give you more location choices. So hop to it.

Drobo, Drobo, What in the World is a Drobo?

I received some very exciting news today: I won a Drobo FS.

What’s that you say? I really don’t understand all the techno-jargon, but what I do know is that it is state of the art digital storage. It will protect my files like no other can. You can learn more about it here.

Veronica Beck was my intern in Jan 2010 and is currently interning with a couple of wedding photographers. She was kind enough to attend the Christmas Open House is past December to take some candid “behind the scenes” shots. I can really see a lot of improvement from her beginnings last year. She a beautiful young lady with the potential for a great career in photography. Thanks Veronica…..

Open House Photo Place is set
